National stock benchmarks started Wednesday’s session on a positive note amid buyer interest in financial stocks and some IT stocks. Tata Motors, HDFC Life, Bajaj Finserve, Hindalco and Tata Steel were among the top performers. On the other hand, Titan, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, Divi’s Lab and DRL were among the big losers. Tata Steel and SBI added 1% each in early trading.

Asian stocks hold onto gains as markets await Powell’s speech
Asian stocks held onto their recent gains on Wednesday as global stocks rebounded, although the focus was on most asset classes at the US Federal Reserve’s annual symposium on Friday. The largest MSCI index of Asia-Pacific stocks outside of Japan spent most of the day at about the same level, but last rose 0.34%, and about 4% more so far this week.

Technical view: Nifty50 in withdrawal mode
Nifty50 formed a bullish candle on the daily scale on Tuesday and broke its 16,350-600 consolidation range on the upside. This was the second session when the index made a higher high-low formation. A move above the 16,700 level could give bulls an edge over bears, analysts say. For the day, the index closed at 16,624, up 128.15 points or 0.78%.
Hong Kong stocks start to tread
Hong Kong stocks opened in positive territory on Wednesday morning, extending their rally to a third day after a record close on Wall Street fueled by renewed optimism for the recovery. Tokyo shares open higher after Wall Street record ends
Tokyo stocks opened higher on Wednesday after rekindling hopes that the worst has been over for the current wave of Covid infections, the surge in optimism sending Wall Street to record highs. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.17%, or 48.28 points, to 27,780.38, while the broader Topix index gained 0.21%, or 4.07 points, to 1 938.27.
US stocks have moved higher; Nasdaq exceeds 15K
Wall Street took further steps on Tuesday after a modest rally in stocks pushed the S & P500 index to an all-time high and the Nasdaq composite broke above 15,000 for the first time. The S & P500 index gained 6.70 points to 4,486.23. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 30.55 points, or 0.1%, to 35,366.26. The Nasdaq composite climbed 77.15 points, or 0.5%, to 15,019.80. The high-tech index also finished at an all-time high on Monday.
Rupee Extends Gains For Day 2, Closes At 74.19 Against The Dollar
The rupee appreciated another 3 paise to close at 74.19 against the US dollar on Tuesday following a strong rally in domestic stock markets. However, a strong dollar in foreign markets and rising crude prices weighed on investor sentiment and capped gains, traders said. In the interbank forex market, the local unit opened strongly at 74.12 against the greenback and traded in a range of 74.11 to 74.20 during the day.
